Baseball has begun!

And boy am I ever glad!

Last weekend was our first Stixx Tournament. We headed off to Columbia for the wet, soggy weekend. We did get two of our four games in. Friday night we lost 6-3 and then Saturday morning we lost 11-1. The first game wasn't too bad... but that second game! We could have done without it! Braxton did have an awesome hit the second game though. He has been struggling hitting the ball the last couple of years so it was great to see him get a great hit. I asked the coach how far he thought he hit it and he said probably 175 ft. It was a long high fly ball, but the center fielder made a heck of a catch. Even though he caught it, it was great for Brax to get that great of a hit! I can't wait to witness more hits like that this year.

So here are a few pics from the weekend. Since we didn't get to play much, I didn't get very many pictures. Someone asked me if I got a picture of Braxton hitting that ball and I said no, I was just too excited!

Hohawk (Mohawk)

All of my boys have been dying to get mohawks. I am going to just let them do it and be done with it.

What's the bid deal anyway? It's just hair, it will grow back!

So the other night I was messing around and gave Braylon a Mohawk, Hohawk as he calls it. He LOVED it!!!

As we were going to bed he told me that he wanted me to give him a Mohawk in the morning before we left. So when morning came, I told him if he didn't get out of bed he wasn't getting a Mohawk. He was up and at 'em very quickly.

Let me tell you, I have boys, like you didn't already know that, but seriously I never get the opportunity to actually do one of my kids hair. Unless you call doing their hair when you spit on your hand and pet them so those stray hairs won't stick up anymore. So I was really excited to do his hair.

We used gel, hairspray and the blow dryer! I think it turned out rather cute. He has had several of them since then and has had several compliments on it. Maybe this will satisfy him and we won't have to actually cut his hair in a Mohawk.

It's that time of year again

I am so excited for this weekend.

I live for baseball season! I just love watching all the kids play ball.

We are headed out today for Columbia to Braxton's first Stixx tournament. Last year it was in the 40's and raining. This year it is in the 60's and 70's and..... raining! We will be prepared though. Last year we had these little bitty umbrellas and this year we have A GREAT BIG one.

Hopefully the rain will pass through and let us play some ball.

Grandma,

Today, March 27th, Jesus decided he needed another special angel in Heaven. Oh how hard this was for us to let you go, but we also know that you are in the best place. You can remember everything now, are not in pain and you are enjoying reuniting with all of your family. I hope your walk to the bright lights was as beautiful as they say it is.

Grandma, you are one of the most special ladies I have ever known in my life. You were a great wife, mother and grandmother to all of us.

I remember when you lived in Glenwood how we would always come to visit you in that big ole house. And then when you moved to the house in Lancaster we didn't think it was going to be the same, but you made it the same.

Some of the things I remember the most were
*all the family dinners
*CHRISTMAS! wow, all the people in that little house. I loved it! and will miss it!
*wall papering your walls... your crooked/wavy walls
*sitting on the porch swing swaying back and forth just chit chatting
*playing croquet in the yard
*easter egg hunts... where Amanda and I would hide the eggs, but would have to look in all of them before we hid them and take out the "good" candy and the best one we hid in your mailbox so noone would find it:)
*playing house in the basement
*all your box elder bugs... ewwww
*riding the lawn mower around and around and around
*going for walks
*your banana pudding!
*your delicious homemade strawberry jelly
*baked apples
*noodles
*i remember you making salmon patties, NASTY~ but i do remember it:)
*playing pitch
*watching our family grow by leaps and bounds
*your smile
*your giggle/laugh
*your friendship
*your faith
*and most of all your love for everyone!

One of the things that you gave me that I will cherish forever is the cookbook that you made me. I will still get to see your handwriting everytime I open it and I will get to cook some of your "special" items. Thank you for doing that for me.

Grandma, you were one of a kind. Always there to listen, laugh with us, cry with us and you supported us no matter what.

I hope that I can learn from you and have a great life just like you lead.

I hope that I can have the marriage that you and Grandad had.

I hope that you are happy.

I hope that you will watch over us every day and cheer us on.

Grandma, I just want you to know that I am not crying for you... I am crying for me!

I am gonna miss your smile,
I am gonna miss you my friend.
