Deer Season 2010

What an eventful Deer Season it was....

Opening day brought some very high wind and some very cold temps.

Braxton and I headed to our stand and waited.. and waited... and waited..... nothing came out in that nasty cold wind!

Jared and Bronson headed to their stand and waited... and waited... and waited... nothing came out in that nasty cold wind!

We all decided to go home, rest and get some lunch

Then we all went back out. Jared and Bronson went to the farm, Braxton went to his stand and Braylon and I went to our stand. Braylon got tired and took a nap and I waited.. and waited.. and waited.

Finally a doe and a buck came out. I decided to shoot the buck. One shot and bam! i thought I hit him, but a buck jumped across the ditch and as I was trying to hurry up and get another shell in the chamber I felt something WARM and WET running down my face....

I couldn't for the life of me think why I was bleeding. Then I got scared... put the gun back on safety, put it up and looked in the mirror of the truck and I was bleeding. Not just a simple small cut that bleeds, but a gaping cut! The scope had kicked me right in the face and I didn't even know it. Call it adreniline or whatever, but it seriously did not hurt until later.

Braxton calls me to see if that was me that shot and I told him yes, but wasn't sure if I got it b/c I couldn't see for all the blood running down my face. After much discussion with him and Jared on the phone, I went looking for my deer. It was laying right where I shot it and I decided it must have been another buck that jumped across the ditch.

SO needless to say, I got myself a big bodied, little 9 pointer and a gash in my head to go along with it.

I had to have the gash glued later on that night, after much laughing and re-telling of my hunt!

The next morning I got a phone call from Braxton telling me he got himself a "nice buck". Once he got home he told me it wasn't as nice as what he thought. But it was... a nice 8 pointer.

For some reason those deer have ground shrinkage once they hit the ground. They always look like monsters until you get up to them, then they look small.

Braxton and I are pretty proud of our bucks. Jared and Bronson have yet to kill one. They are still out looking and hunting every evening. I just hope that Bronson does get one before the season is over.

Sweetness!

Just look at that face! Isn't it just one of the sweetest you have seen?

This little guy is probably the sweetest one out of my bunch of boys.

He is lovey, kind and downright.... SWEET!

Just out of the blue he will say, "mommy, I love you!"

Last night as we were eating supper this is how his little story went....

~ Once upon a time.... there was a special mommy
~ Once upon a time.... there was some best brothers... braxton and bronson
~ Once upon a time.... there was some good grandma's... grandma teresa, grandma margie, grandma dianna
~ Once upon a time.... there was some best grandpa's.... da, grampsie
~ Once upon a time.... there was a special friend... daddy

Now, don't tell me that isn't the sweetest thing you have heard in a long time.

Just wanted to brag about my little sweet man and have this to look back on someday when he is making me angry.
